February Writings

Living Room Window

I look out the window, seeking something beyond the faded paper hearts clinging to the glass with smidges of old tape.  The cracks draw my attention, as always, arching seams climbing from the window's corner, directionless.  I drag my gaze away and peer past the condensation, the fog beading up between the panes of glass.  Gray.  A gray, February day--but not depressing, though it comes on the heels of warmer days that tantalized and tempted with hints of spring.
